Youth Charged Following Robbery

(St. John’s, NL) July 16, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has arrested a teenage male following a robbery in St. John’s.

On Friday (July 12) shortly before midnight, Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a disturbance in the Cowan Avenue area where a young male had sustained injuries. Responding officers located the young male, who was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Patrol officers later determined a robbery had occurred involving an assault with a weapon, and the Criminal Investigation Division was engaged to investigate.

On Saturday (July 13) just before 2 p.m., investigators arrested a 15-year-old male form St. John’s in connection with the event. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court on charges of armed robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using an imitation firearm to commit an offence, and assault with a weapon.
