UPDATE – RNC Issues Public Advisory

(ST. JOHN’S, NL) August 15, 2017 – On August 14 the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) issued a public advisory regarding a male soliciting sexual activity from young females in St. John’s. The RNC wishes to provide an update regarding this matter.

On August 10 the RNC received a complaint regarding a male who was approaching teenage females in a St. John’s park. It is alleged that this male was attempting to befriend the females and solicit sexual activity from them. The RNC has identified a suspect in this investigation. The suspect, who is 30 years old, is alleged to have told the females that he is significantly younger than his actual age.

To date the RNC has received one formal complaint, however it is believed that this may not be an isolated incident. As part of the ongoing investigation the RNC is seeking to identify other potential victims and is requesting anyone who has information that may assist in this investigation to call the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The RNC has increased patrols in parks and is asking the public to report all suspicious activity. You can now provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
