“Much More Than Police: A History of The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary 1871-1949” is a meticulously researched and comprehensive account of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s noteworthy contributions to the policing heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador. Terry Carlson’s extensive insights and thorough examination of historical records have ensured that this publication aptly captures the compelling narrative of the organization’s journey.

The generosity of Elinor Gill-Ratcliffe deserves special recognition as she graciously covered the entire cost of publication. This act of kindness ensures that every currently serving and retired uniformed officer, as well as every currently serving civilian member, will be gifted a copy of the book in the coming weeks. This generous gesture underscores Ms. Ratcliffe’s commitment to honouring the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s legacy and preserving the history and heritage of Canada’s oldest continuous police service.
