Sudden Death in St. John’s Deemed Homicide

(St. John’s, NL), March 25, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) are treating the death of an 82-year-old female in St. John’s as homicide.

On Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at approximately 10:55 pm, members of the RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) responded to a request for assistance from Paramedics after they had received a report of a female requiring medical attention in the area of Mitchell Court in St. John’s. The 82-year-old female was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. The RNC Criminal Investigation Division (CID) were engaged, and the female’s death was believed to be suspicious at that time.

After consultation with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the RNC CID are treating the death of the female as homicide. The RNC have identified a suspect in connection with the event, and the investigation currently remains active.
