Search Efforts Ongoing for Missing Boater in Labrador

(Labrador City, NL), June 3, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) are engaged in a search for a missing person resulting from a boating incident in the Labrador West region.

On Thursday, June 2, 2022, at approximately 6:10 pm, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to the area of Canning Lake in Labrador City after receiving a request for police assistance. Responding officers determined a boat had capsized in the area and one of the occupants was missing. Two other occupants were located safely in the area.

The missing individual has not been located, and search efforts are active in the Canning Lake area, involving multiple emergency services. The RNC is requesting that the community avoid the area at this time. Updates will be provided as further information becomes available.
