RNC Welcomes Newly Sworn-in Officers

(St. John’s, NL), September 9, 2024 – Today, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) officially welcomed 13 new officers to the police service with a swearing-in ceremony.

This morning (Sept. 9), surrounded by family, friends and new colleagues, the cadets were sworn-in as constables of the RNC. The ceremony is a follow-up to last week’s graduation from the Atlantic Police Academy in Prince Edward Island.

The swearing-in ceremony is led by the Oath of Office, followed by the presentation of breast shields by Chief Patrick Roche, Deputy Chief Colin McNeil and Deputy Chief Stephanie Lagace. The Honourable Joan Marie Aylward, O.N.L., Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, along with the Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, were in attendance.

The RNC recognizes the dedication, teamwork and perseverance in successfully completing the police cadet-training program and looks forward to the impact its new officers will have on the communities they serve. The newly appointed constables will be assigned to Operational Patrol Services throughout RNC jurisdictions in Newfoundland and Labrador.
