RNC Warns Community After Reports Of Scam On West Coast

(Corner Brook, NL), September 3, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) in the Corner Brook region are issuing a warning to the community after reports of a scam in the city.

Officers have responded to multiple reports of a male in Corner Brook taking funds to complete home maintenance work and failing to follow through with the agreement. Reports indicate a male of approximately 40 years of age has been approaching homeowners in Corner Brook, offering an array of home maintenance services at reduced prices. The individual requests an upfront payment, begins the work, and then leaves the job incomplete.

The RNC recommends members of the community research any person or contractor before hiring them to complete any work on their property. In addition, request references, and avoid making payment upfront prior to any work being completed.

The RNC ask that anyone who may have information related to this matter contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can now provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
