RNC Track Down Impaired Driver In Metro

(St. John’s, NL), August 20, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) arrest a woman in connection with  impaired driving in St. John’s after reports from two areas of the city.

On Thursday, August 19, 2021, at approximately 7:20 pm, RNC OPS responded to a report of a vehicle driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street in the downtown area of St. John’s. A short time later, a report was received that a collision had occurred on Cookstown Road. Officers with RNC OPS were able to determine that the same vehicle was involved in both events.

As a result of an investigation in to the incident, a 21-year-old woman from St. John’s was arrested and charged with impaired driving, impaired driving over 80mg, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, and her vehicle was impounded from the scene. The woman was released to appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
