RNC Successfully Contain Incident in Metro

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), July 16, 2020 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) arrested a man following containment of a residence in St. John’s on Thursday.

On Thursday, July 16, 2020, at approximately 2:00 am, members of RNC operational patrol services responded to a residence on Cook Street in St. John’s in relation to a report of a disturbance. On arrival, officers made contact with a lone occupant of the residence, proceeding to diminish access to the area and contain the residence.

Officers observed as household items were thrown from the residence by the man inside the home. Communication was maintained in order to seek a peaceful resolution. Shortly after 11:00 am, the man exited the home and was taken in to custody by officers on scene.

A 42 year old man has been charged with three counts of mischief by damaging property, and assaulting a peace officer with a weapon. The man was held to appear in provincial court.
