RNC Seize Vehicles of Suspended Drivers in Metro

(St. John’s, NL), July 12, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) seized the vehicles of two suspended drivers last night in St. John’s.

On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at approximately 11:35 pm, RNC OPS conducted a traffic safety stop with a vehicle traveling on Cashin Avenue in St. John’s. The investigating patrol officer subsequently determined that the operator of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license and had failed to register the vehicle.

The 35-year-old male operating the vehicle was issued summary offence tickets in relation to the Highway Traffic Act infractions, and the vehicle was impounded from the site of the traffic stop.

Shortly after midnight, patrol officers conducted a traffic safety stop with a vehicle travelling on Terra Nova Road in St. John’s. The investigating patrol officer determined that the operator’s driver’s license had been suspended, and they had over $13,000.00 in outstanding fines.

The 39-year-old male operating the vehicle was issued summary offence tickets in relation to Highway Traffic Act infractions and released to appear in court on a later date. The vehicle was impounded from the site of the traffic stop.
