RNC Seize Cocaine in Operation Rebellion

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), July 28, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Drug Investigation Unit (DIU) have seized cocaine in Operation Rebellion.

In February of 2021, The RNC DIU, with support from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police of Newfoundland and Labrador (RCMP-NL), initiated Operation Rebellion in response to public safety concerns related to illicit drug activity. Following the collaborative approach of specialized units within the CID, conventional investigative techniques were deployed, spanning from St. John’s to Montreal. As a result of the investigation, on July 9, 2021, members of the RNC DIU seized 5 kilograms of cocaine at St. John’s International Airport.

A 23-year-old man from St. John’s was arrested and released in connection with Operation Rebellion. Charges are pending in relation to this ongoing investigation.
