RNC Searching for Suspects of Armed Robberies

(St. John’s, NL), January 12, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit (GIU) are searching for suspects of armed robberies in the capital city on Monday.

Shortly after 4:00 pm on Monday, January 11, 2021, Operational Patrol Services responded to St. Clare’s Hospital after a report that a vehicle had been stolen from the area. On arrival, officers were informed that two men had approached a vehicle in the area with a firearm, described to be a handgun style, demanding the occupant exit the vehicle. The men fled the area operating the vehicle.

A short time later, the RNC received a report of an armed robbery at a bank in the area of Churchill Square in St. John’s. Two men had entered the bank and approached the teller presenting a firearm described to be a handgun. The pair of suspects obtained cash and then fled the establishment. They were last seen running to a blue vehicle in the area of Linden Place.

At noon today, January 12, 2021, officers located the stolen vehicle in the center city.
