RNC Respond to Person in Distress

(St. John’s, NL), June 18, 2020 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Patrol Services Division responded to a person in distress in Flatrock on Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at approximately 3:05 p.m., RNC Patrol Services responded to the area of Hickey’s Lane in Flatrock, in order to access the Stiles Cove Path. Reports indicated that a woman had been swimming in the area, and was now in need of rescue.

On arrival, officers accompanied Fire Department and Ambulance Department, who were successful in locating the woman, removing her from the water. The 25 year old woman was taken to the Health Science Center, but did succumb to her injuries, and was pronounced deceased a short time after arrival.
