RNC Request Assistance in Armed Robbery Investigation

(ST. JOHN’S, NL), December 31, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit is seeking the public’s assistance identifying the man responsible for a recent armed robbery in St. John’s.

On Saturday, December 22, 2018, just after midnight, officers with RNC’s Operational Patrol Services Division, Police Dog Services and Forensic Identification Services responded to the New Moon Restaurant on Topsail Road in St. John’s to a report of an armed robbery. Staff reported that a man, armed with a weapon, approached a staff member outside the restaurant demanding cash. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash prior to police arrival. No injuries were reported as a result of this robbery.

The suspect was reported to be a man wearing a dark jacket and had his face covered with a scarf.

The RNC General Investigation Unit is seeking any CCTV footage in the area at the time of the offence.
