RNC Promotes Safety and Solidarity While Serving Community During COVID-19

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) continues to foster open lines of communication with community groups, municipalities, government agencies, and the community as a whole, as we continue to respond and serve our communities during COVID-19. As we look back on the unprecedented winter event just two months ago, we recall the strength of our communities, and the ability to work together, protecting our most vulnerable groups. We must heed the advice of our medical professionals and agencies, take measures to avoid any spread of this virus, and eliminate risk where possible.

Members of our operational patrols services division (OPS) are in the community, responding to calls for service, dedicated to the safety of our communities. You may notice our front line members using personal protective equipment (PPE) and utilizing a greater distance during interactions, among other recommendations from medical professionals regarding preventative measures. These measures are in place to protect our members, as well as everyone we encounter. Our front line members have always shown their ability to adapt in the face of adversity, and we will ensure that they have the tools they need to effectively serve our communities during this challenging time.

We are constantly evaluating this evolving situation, relying on information from professionals in order to prepare and plan based on the evidence we are provided. This may involve temporary changes to the reporting of non-emergency events, and communication via email (contactrnc@rnc.gov.nl.ca) or by phone (709-729-8000) in those instances.

We are dedicated to accessibility, and assure the community that we are constantly working to identify the safest method to receive incident reports and complaints.

Any updates will be provided as they become available.

Thank you,
#YourRNC
