RNC Operation Yields Arrest for Thefts

(St. John’s, NL), April 5, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have made an arrest after an investigative operation regarding fragrance thefts in St. John’s.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, the RNC were informed of a suspect that has been stealing fragrances multiple times a day from an east end St. John’s pharmacy.  At approximately 6:30 pm on Tuesday evening, RNC Operational Patrol Services Division (OPS) engaged an investigative operation in relation to this report.

At approximately 8:55 pm, officers observed the male suspect attempting to flee the store with product. Officers approached the male suspect, at which time he ran back in to the store to evade police. The officers placed the suspect under arrest inside the store a short time later.

As a result of the investigation into the events, a 22-year-old male from St. John’s has been charged with thefts, resisting arrest and failure to comply with court orders. The officers also confirmed that the accused was wanted in relation to two arrest warrants. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court on all matters.
