RNC Officer Assaulted Following Response To Disturbance

(St. John’s, NL), August 16, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) arrested a man following response to a disturbance at a home in St. John’s on Saturday.

On Saturday, August 14, 2021, at approximately 11:50 pm, members of the RNC OPS responded to a disturbance at a residence in the east end of St. John’s. On arrival, responding officers identified the parties involved, confirming that a man in the home was breaching court orders. The man was advised that he was under arrest, at which time a member of RNC OPS was assaulted.

As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old-man from St. John’s was charged with assault, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and breach of court orders. He was held in custody to appear in provincial court.
