RNC Make Charge Two in Connection with Early Morning Home Invasion

(St. John’s. NL), October 5, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Major Crime Unit has charged two men in connection with an early morning home invasion in Paradise.

This morning, just after 10:30 am, an officer patrolling the area of Topsail Road in Mount Pearl was flagged down by a man who stated he had been assaulted by two men. The man alleged that two men had forcefully entered his paradise home earlier this morning, assaulted him, and kidnapped him. The two suspects were located and arrested nearby by responding officers.

The victim, a 23 year old Paradise man, suffered non-life threatening injuries during the incident but remains in hospital at this time. The two men, 56 and 24, have been charged with: Break and Enter (home invasion), Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Kidnapping, and Uttering Threats. The pair were held to appear at Provincial Court on Friday afternoon. All parties were known to one another and this is not believed to be a random act of violence.
