RNC Make Arrests in Relation to Home Invasion

(St. John’s, NL) September 27, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Major Crime Unit has arrested two men in connection with an early morning home invasion.

This morning, just after 5:30 a.m., members of RNC’s Operational Patrol Services Division, Police Dog Services, and Criminal Investigation Division responded to a report of a home invasion at a residence on Barachois Street in St. John’s involving a firearm.

When patrol officers arrived in the area, they located two men believed to have been involved with the reported home invasion. One of the men was arrested without incident and the second man fled on foot and was tracked down and arrested by one of the responding constables. RNC Police Service Dog “Dali” was called into assist responding officers and was able to locate evidence in connection with the incident.

There were no injuries as a result of this home invasion, and investigators believe that this was not a random act of violence. The two St. John’s men were held to appear at Provincial Court in St. John’s on numerous charges in connection with this incident.
