RNC Make Arrests in Automobile Theft Case

(St. John’s, NL), May 12, 2017 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit (GIU) has arrested three individuals in connection with the theft of a new motor vehicle from a local car dealership.

On Friday, May 5, 2017, patrol officers responded to Capital Hyundai on Kenmount Road in St. John’s to a report that a 2017 Hyundai Tucson had been stolen sometime overnight. 

On Thursday afternoon, May 11, 2017, a member of RNC’s General Investigation Unit, who was investigating the theft, located the vehicle parked in the area of Suvla Street in St. John’s. The vehicle was initially unoccupied, but a short time later, GIU members arrested three individuals attempting to gain access to the vehicle. Arrested were an 18 year old St. John’s woman and two youths – a male and a female.

All three were charged with procession of stolen property and held to appear at Provincial Court. The investigation is ongoing.
