RNC Make Arrests Following Robbery in Capital City

(St. John’s, NL), July 4, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) laid charges upon two individuals following an armed robbery in St. John’s yesterday.

On Sunday, July 3, 2022, at approximately 3:25 pm, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at a service station on Elizabeth Avenue in St. John’s. A male approached the service counter after selecting some merchandise, then presented a weapon and demanded cash. The male left the business with merchandise and cash, then fled the area in a vehicle.

The items obtained by the suspect contained a GPS tracker, which assisted the responding officers with locating the suspect in a vehicle on Empire Avenue a short time after the robbery had occurred.

As a result of an investigation of the event, a 19-year-old male from Conception Bay South has been charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court. A 22-year-old female from Mount Pearl was also charged with armed robbery, and she has been released from custody to appear in Provincial Court on a later date.
