RNC Make Arrest Related to Impaired Driving on West Coast

(St. John’s, NL), January 31, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) arrested a male in connection with impaired driving in Corner Brook on Friday.

On Friday, January 28, 2022, at approximately 3:10 pm, officers with RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a report of a hit and run collision in the area of Humber Road in Corner Brook. Officers were informed that a GMC SUV was struck by a Lincoln sedan, and the sedan left the scene. Responding officers located the suspect vehicle on a nearby parking lot. The operator was located and identified by officers a short time later.

As a result of an investigation in to the event, a 76-year-old male from Corner Brook was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle by alcohol over 80 mg, and failure to remain at the scene of a motor vehicle collision. The accused was released from custody to appear in Provincial Court on a later date.
