RNC Make Arrest in Home Invasion

(St. John’s, NL), March 17, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Major Crime Unit (MCU) make an arrest in a home invasion in St. John’s.

On Sunday, March 6, 2022, at approximately 3:00 am, officers with the RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a report of a weapons offence in the area of Devine Place in St. John’s. On arrival police located a home with notable damage and made contact with those inside. RNC was able to ensure the safety of the residents and began and their investigation into the incident.

The immediate investigation lead to the discovery and seizure of multiple weapons, including a firearm. The RNC Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) attended and processed the scene.

Through the investigation that followed, the RNC Major Crime Unit (MCU) determined that a targeted home invasion had occurred during this incident and was able to identify a man responsible.

On March 16, 2022, Chad RALPH (83-11-30) of St. John’s was arrested in relation to the incident. RALPH was arrested without issue and held to appear before a judge on the following nine charges:

  • Break and enter
  • Using a firearm in the commission of offence
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle
  • Breach of release order
  • Breach of Firearms prohibition order.
