RNC Make Arrest In Connection With Intimate Partner Violence

(St. John’s, NL), January 18, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) arrested a male in connection with an investigation in to intimate partner violence in St. John’s.

On Sunday, January 16, 2022, the RNC Criminal Investigation Division (CID) launched an investigation in to intimate partner violence in progress in St. John’s, with incidents spanning back a number of months. The suspect, a 25-year-old male from St. John’s, was also believed to be in possession of a firearm, contrary to a court ordered prohibition.

On Monday, January 17, 2022, officers located the suspect operating a vehicle in the area of Pasadena Crescent in St. John’s. The officers successfully conducted a high-risk traffic stop, effecting arrest of the suspect without incident.

As a result of an investigation in to these events, the 25-year-old male from St. John’s has been charged with assault, choking, assault with a weapon, mischief, uttering threats, breach of a firearms prohibition, and breach of court order. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court on this matter.
