RNC Make Arrest in Connection with Break and Enters

(ST. JOHN’S, NL) July 26, 2019 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit have arrested a man following an operation focused on break and enters in the metro area.

On Thursday, July 25, 2019, at around 7:30 pm, members of Operational Patrol Services Division, General Investigation Unit and Police Dog Service attended the home of a 42 year old man of St. John’s, where he was placed under arrest. This arrest was made in connection with Operation Reprieve, which was engaged in investigating a high volume of residential break and enters in the metro area. These break and enters often occurred while the residents were home. We would like to thank the public for assisting in this investigation.

The 42 year old man was held to appear in provincial court in relation to charges of break and enter, Trespassing at night, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, trafficking in property obtained by crime, and court order breaches.

The General Investigation Unit continue to gather information in relation to break and enters, and ask members of the public to continue reporting suspicious activity.
