RNC Make Arrest in Assault of Police Officer

(St. John’s, NL), November 10, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) arrested a male after an assault of a police officer in St. John’s last night.

On Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at approximately 9:20 pm, RNC OPS responded to a report that a police officer had been assaulted in the west end of St. John’s. Responding officers were advised that an RNC officer, operating within a specialized unit, had been assaulted by a male inside a public facility in the west end of St. John’s. The officer did not sustain any injury.

As a result of an investigation in to the event, a 20-year-old male from St. John’s was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
