RNC Make Arrest Following Response to Break In

(St. John’s, NL), November 4, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services arrested a male following response to a break and enter in St. John’s.

On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at approximately 3:15 pm, officers with the RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a residence in the center city of St. John’s. Responding officers arrived on scene and confirmed the suspect was still inside the residence. Officers contained the property before entering the home to effect an arrest. The patrol officers successfully took the suspect in to custody while inside the home a short time later.

As a result of the investigation in to the event, 44-year-old Darrin BURKE of St. John’s was charged with break and enter, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and multiple breaches of court orders. The accused was held to appear in Provincial Court.
