RNC Make Arrest Following Car Theft in Metro

(St. John’s, NL), May 13, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services arrested a male following a car theft in St. John’s yesterday.

On Thursday, May 12, 2022, at approximately 4:15 pm, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a report of a stolen vehicle, taken from the O’Leary Avenue area of St. John’s. A short time later, officers determined the stolen vehicle was being operated in the area of Blackmarsh Road, and they were able to identify the driver.

At approximately 1:10 am, early in to Friday, May 13, officers located the suspect at a residence in the center city area of St. John’s. The 36-year-old male was arrested without incident. He has been charged with being in possession of property obtained by crime and failure to comply with a release order. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
