RNC Make Arrest Following Break-in

(St. John’s, NL), January 11, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have made an arrest following response to a report of a break-in in progress in St. John’s.

On Thursday (Jan 11) at approximately 4:30 a.m., RNC patrol officers responded to a business on Hamilton Avenue after a report that somebody was breaking into the business. Responding officers located a male at scene attempting to force entry to the building, as well as a vehicle running outside the building with no occupants. The male was taken into police custody without incident. The officers confirmed the vehicle had been stolen.

As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old male of St. John’s was charged with property damage, possession of a break-in instrument, possession of property obtained by crime, breach of probation order and failure to comply with a release order. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court in connection with the charges.
