RNC Make Arrest Following Assault in Corner Brook

(Corner Brook, NL), February 4, 2022– The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have made an arrest after responding to a disturbance in Corner Brook yesterday.

On Thursday, February 3, 2022, at approximately 4:40 pm, the RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to the area of Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook in relation to a report of a disturbance. On arrival, officers located a male at the Grenfell Campus who had sustained non-life threatening injuries. The injured male was transported to the hospital to seek medical assistance. Responding officers located a male believed to be involved in the incident a short distance away from the scene of the event.

The RNC Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and Criminal Investigation Division (CID) were engaged in the investigation. Investigators determined the incident to be an isolated event, and do not have any concerns for public safety in connection with the matter.

As a result of the investigation in to the event, a 16-year-old male from Corner Brook was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
