RNC Make Arrest Following Armed Robbery

(St. John’s, NL), November 22, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services arrested a male following response to an armed robbery at a bank on Friday afternoon.

On Friday, November 19, 2021, at approximately 1:50 pm, officers with the RNC Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at a bank in the Churchill Square area of St. John’s. A lone male entered the bank armed with a weapon and demanded cash. The male fled the establishment with a sum of money. There no injuries resulting from the event.

On arrival, responding officers contained the area and began gathering information related to the event. RNC Police Dog Service, Forensic Identification Services and Criminal Investigation Division were engaged to assist the investigation.

At 3:30 pm, officers arrested a 34-year-old male from St. John’s in the downtown area of St. John’s in connection with the investigation, also recovering the sum of money. The 34-year-old male was charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, imitation of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, disguise with intent, and breach of court orders. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
