RNC Make Arrest Connected to Intimate Partner Violence

(St. John’s, NL), March 28, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services Division made an arrest in connection with intimate partner violence after responding to a request for assistance last night in St. John’s.

On Monday, March 27, 2023, at approximately 10:50 pm, the RNC Operational Patrol Services Division (OPS) responded to a request for police assistance at a residence located in center-city St. John’s. Responding officers located a female with visible injuries, and determined that a male had stolen property from the location and fled on foot. Officers confirmed that the suspect male was wanted in connection with an assault that occurred a day prior, which resulted in the visible injuries to the female.

RNC OPS response successfully located the suspect male in the area of Stamps Lane, and after a brief foot chase, placed him under arrest on Freshwater Road.

As a result of an investigation into the event, in addition to the outstanding warrant regarding an assault charge, the 29-year-old male from St. John’s was charged with theft, resisting arrest and breach of court order. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.

The RNC request that anyone with information to assist the investigation contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can now provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com or use the P3Tips app #SayItHere
