RNC Make an Arrest After Downtown Disturbance

(St. John’s, NL), April 3, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) made an arrest following a disturbance in the downtown area of St. John’s last night.

On Sunday, April 2, 2023, at approximately 8:30 pm, the RNC Operational Patrol Services Division (OPS) responded to a report of a disturbance in progress in the Military Road area of downtown St. John’s. Responding officers located a male in the area who was believed to be involved in the reported disturbance. Officers determined that a warrant for arrest was in effect for the male. The male was non-compliant to arrest, becoming combative, but was taken into custody by officers on scene. An RNC officer was transported to a hospital to seek medical attention following the event.

In addition to the arrest warrant, the 40-year-old male from St. John’s has been charged with assaulting a police officer causing bodily harm, resisting arrest and breach of court order. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
