RNC Lay Charges Related to Sexual Violence in St. John’s

(St. John’s, NL), September 29, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Child Abuse and Sexual Assault (CASA) Unit have laid charges in connection with sexual violence in St. John’s.

On Friday, September 16, 2022, the RNC Criminal Investigation Division received a report related to sexual violence involving a youth female victim. The event is believed to have occurred in the east end of St. John’s. The RNC CASA Unit was engaged to investigate the event.

As a result of the investigation in to the event, On the night of September 16, 2022, a 19-year-old male from St. John’s was arrested and charged with assault, sexual assault, and sexual assault causing bodily harm. The accused was held in custody to appear in Provincial Court.
