RNC Lay Charges Related to Sexual Violence

(St. John’s, NL), November 10, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Child Abuse and Sexual Assault (CASA) Unit made an arrest following an investigation in to a report of a sexual assault in St. John’s.

On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, The RNC CASA Unit initiated an investigation in to a report of a sexual assault that occurred at a residence in St. John’s on July 14, 2021. Investigators confirmed that the suspect in this matter is known to the victim.

As a result of an investigation into the event, an 18-year-old male from St. John’s was arrested and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching. The accused was released on conditions to appear in Provincial Court on a later date.
