RNC Lay Charges in Relation to Sexual Violence

(St. John’s, NL), December 23, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Child Abuse and Sexual Assault (CASA) Unit have laid charges in connection with two events of sexual violence in Conception Bay South (CBS).

On May 4, 2020, the RNC Operational Patrol Services responded to reports of historical sexual assaults involving two youth victims in CBS. Reports indicated the incidents occurred in December of 2019 and September of 2020. The RNC CASA Unit were engaged to investigate the reports.

As a result of the investigation in to the events, a male youth from CBS has been arrested and charged with sexual assault in connection with each incident. The accused has been released from custody to appear in Provincial Court on a later date.
