RNC Lay Charges Following Impaired Driving in Labrador

(Labrador City, NL), March 30, 2022 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Operational Patrol Services (OPS) have laid charges in connection with impaired driving and firearms offences in Labrador City.

On Monday, March 21, 2022, at approximately 9:00 pm, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a report of possible impaired driving on a commercial property in Labrador City. Responding officers located the suspect vehicle on site, subsequently placing the operator under arrest in relation to impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The investigation continued on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, in connection with a potential weapons offence involving the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was seized from the scene. On Thursday, March 24, 2022, investigating officers executed a search warrant on the suspect vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old female from Labrador City has been charged with impaired driving, impaired driving over 80 mg, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm in an unauthorized location, and contravention of Firearms Regulations. The accused has been released to appear in Provincial Court. The investigation is ongoing in relation to other items seized from the suspect vehicle.
