RNC Lay Additional Charges Connected to Violent Events

 (St. John’s, NL), March 2, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) have laid additional charges in connection with a string of related violent events on the Northeast Avalon in 2022.

The RNC CID have laid additional charges upon 21-year-old Robert BELBIN of St. John’s in relation to offences connected to three events which occurred in the metro region of the Northeast Avalon in May and June of 2022.

The accused, Robert BELBIN, is currently in custody, and will appear in Provincial Court in relation to the following charges:

  • Uttering threats, discharging a firearm, and other firearms related offences in relation to a shooting event in the area of Galway, which occurred on May 13, 2022.
  • Assault with a weapon, discharging a firearm, and other firearms related offences in connection with a shooting event on Goldfinch Drive in Paradise, which occurred on May 21, 2022.
  • Multiple firearms related offences in relation to an incident in the area of Baker Street in St. John’s, which occurred on June 5, 2022.
