RNC Issue Tickets and Impound ATV in Labrador

(Labrador City, NL), September 27, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) in the Labrador West region issued summary offence tickets and impounded an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) in Labrador City last week.

On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at approximately 12:25 pm, RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) in Labrador City responded to a traffic complaint related to an ATV operating dangerously on the roadway in the area of Menihek High School. The responding officer located the ATV operating aggressively on the roadway in the area. As the officer approached and attempted to conduct a traffic safety stop, the operator increased speed and proceeded to evade the officer.

As a result of an investigation in to the event, the operator of the ATV was identified to be a 12-year-old male from Labrador City. Officers issued summary offence tickets to the parent of the youth in relation to operation of a vehicle without an insurance policy and operating an unregistered vehicle. The ATV was seized in relation to the Highway Traffic Act offences.
