RNC Investigating Weapons Offence in Metro

(St. John’s, NL), September 21, 2020 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Major Crime Unit (MCU) are investigating a weapons offence, which occurred Friday evening in St. John’s.

On Friday, September 18, 2020, at approximately 5:00 pm, members of RNC Operational Patrol Services (OPS) responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of Keegan Court in St. John’s. Reports indicated there was an altercation between two men in the area, and there had been a shot fired.

The RNC MCU initiated an investigation in to the report, which involved canvassing the area and processing the scene. Investigators were able to confirm a 38-year-old man had sustained a gunshot wound in the altercation, and the injury was non-life threatening. This is not believed to be a random incident, and there is no perceived threat to the public. There have been no arrests made at this stage, as the investigation remains active.
