RNC Investigating Weapons Offence

(St. John’s, NL), October 16, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Major Crime Unit is investigating a weapons offence that occurred on Bennett Avenue in St. John’s.

Yesterday evening, just after 9:00 pm, officers with RNC Operational Patrol Services Division, Criminal Investigation Division, and Forensic Identification Services responded to a residence on Bennett Avenue to a report of shots fired in the area. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered damage to a residence consistent with gunshots. There were individuals at home during the incident however there were no injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time and the RNC Major Crime Unit is continuing to investigate this incident. There is no evidence to suggest that this was a random act of violence. We are asking any residents in the area with CCTV footage including doorbell cameras etc., to contact the RNC if they have video between 8:45 pm and 9:15 pm.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and investigators are interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed this incident.
