RNC Investigating Suspicious Fire

(St. John’s, NL), December 13, 2017 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit (GIU) is investigating a structure fire that occurred on Sunday, November 19, 2017.

On Sunday, November 19, 2017 just after 4:00pm in the afternoon, officers with RNC’s Operational Patrol Services along with Firefighters with St. John’s Regional Fire Department were called to a structure fire at 307 Mount Scio Road. The fire destroyed the structure – an uninhabited home – located near MUN Botanical Gardens. No individuals were located in the structure when emergency responders arrived. 

Fire investigators believe circumstances around this fire to be suspicious in nature and are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area on the Sunday of the fire. Anyone with information is asked to call the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
