RNC Investigating Multiple Car Thefts in Metro

(St. John’s, NL), June 1, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating multiple vehicle thefts in the Northeast Avalon region.

In recent weeks, the RNC has received multiple reports related to vehicle theft in the Northeast Avalon region of the province. The RNC implores members of the community to store vehicle keys in secure locations inside your home or on your person with the vehicle locked when unattended. It is believed that perpetrators are checking vehicles for access and attempting to start the vehicle in hopes that the key fob is in the vehicle.

Please report any suspicious activity in your community to the RNC. Whether it is an unusual vehicle parked in the area, or persons accessing private property or behaving suspicious, this information is valuable for appropriate and prompt response. The RNC reminds homeowners of the importance of securing your homes and keeping valuables out of plain view in your home or your vehicle.

These investigations remain active, and the RNC requests that anyone with information to assist this investigation contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can now provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com or use the P3Tips app #SayItHere
