RNC Investigating Hit and Run Collision in St. John’s

(St. John’s, NL), October 26, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) are investigating a hit and run collision, which occurred in St. John’s on Wednesday.

On Wednesday (Oct. 25), at approximately 6:30 p.m., RNC patrol officers responded to a report of a hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a bicycle at the intersection of Bonaventure Avenue at Empire Avenue in St. John’s. Responding officers were informed that a grey coupe style car collided with a male operating a bicycle in the area, then drove away from the scene.

It is believed that the suspect vehicle continued onto Empire Avenue from Bonaventure Avenue, then North on Mayor Avenue and made a left turn onto a side street travelling west. The side streets in that area are Whiteway Street and Pinebud Place.

The bicycle operator received medical assistance from paramedics at the scene for minor physical injuries.

Collision investigators believe the suspect vehicle is a grey Mazda 3 with a trunk spoiler. The operator of the vehicle was described to be male. The RNC is seeking any information or video footage during the period of 6:10 p.m. to 6:25 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 25) in the following areas of St. John’s in relation to this investigation:

  • Carpasian Road
  • Empire Avenue
  • Mayor Avenue
  • Whiteway Street
  • Pinebud Place
  • Elizabeth Avenue
