RNC Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

(St. John’s, NL), December 5, 2018 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Traffic Services Section is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at approximately 7:00 pm on Lemarchant Road in St. John’s.

Yesterday, at approximately, 7:00 pm, the RNC were called to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Lemarchant Road just east of Brazil Street. Investigators believe a grey Nissan X-Trail, which was headed east in the east bound lane at the time, struck a 63 year-old woman who is believed to have been crossing the road at the time. The woman was rushed by Eastern Health paramedics to nearby St. Clare’s Emergency, where we regret to inform, she succumb to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

No charges have been laid at this time. Accident Investigators are continuing to investigate the cause of this fatal collision and are asking anyone who may have witnessed this motor vehicle accident, anyone with dash-cameras who were driving in the area at the time, or anyone who lives in the area with CCTV, to contact Accident Investigators at 709-729-8000.
