RNC Investigating Downtown Robberies

(St. John’s, NL), February 7, 2024 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) are investigating a pair of robberies that occurred in downtown St. John’s.

On Monday (Feb 5), just before 3:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at a service station on Waldegrave Street. It was determined that a male suspect had presented a weapon while demanding cash and cigarettes. He left the store with some merchandise and cash.

Just before 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday (Feb 6), patrol officers responded to the same location following a report of another armed robbery. Once again, a male suspect presented a weapon while demanding cash. After obtaining some cash, the suspect fled the area on foot.

The suspect of the event on Monday (Feb 5) is described to be approximately five feet and nine inches tall, and wore a black balaclava, a black rain jacket, blue sweat pants and black sneakers.
