RNC Investigating Center City Robbery

(St. John’s, NL), January 12, 2021 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit (GIU) is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at a service station in the center city.

Shortly after midnight on Monday, January 11, 2021, Operational Patrol Services responded to an armed robbery at a service station on Freshwater Road in St. John’s. Two men entered the business and approached the counter demanding cash and cigarettes. One man presented a firearm, described to be a pistol. The men fled the location with cash and cigarettes prior to police arrival, last seen in the area of Merrymeeting Road at Freshwater Road.

The armed man was described to be wearing a grey coat with a dark hooded sweatshirt underneath. He was wearing a surgical mask, and carried a green reusable bag and a Coors cooler bag. The second man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white strings, and was not wearing a mask over his face.
