RNC Investigating Armed Vehicle Robbery

(St. John’s, NL), November 9, 2017 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Major Crime Unit is investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred this afternoon in St. John’s.

This afternoon, just after 1:00 pm, officers with RNC Patrol Services Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Police Dog Services, and Forensic Identification Services responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery of a woman’s vehicle in a parking garage at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. The male was armed with an undisclosed weapon but fortunately the woman was not injured. The man fled the area before police arrived and was not successful at taking control of the woman’s vehicle. Investigators have identified a suspect and are continuing to search for him at this hour.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and investigators are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this incident.
