(ST. JOHN’S, NL), January 30, 2020– The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit (GIU) is investigating an armed robbery in St. John’s.
On Wednesday, January 29, 2020, just after 4:00 pm, members of the RNC Operational Patrol Services Division (OPS), Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and Police Dog Service (PDS) responded to a report of an armed robbery at a bank on Hamlyn Road in St. John’s. A man reportedly entered the bank, approached the teller, and presented a firearm demanding cash. After obtaining a sum of money in a bag, the man fled the area. There were no injuries reported following this incident. Responding officers were not able to locate the man in the area.
The man responsible for this armed robbery is believed to be in his late twenties or early thirties, and is described as tall with a slim build. He was wearing a black hoodie with a bandanna covering his face, and grey pants.
