RNC Investigating Altercation in St. John’s

(St. John’s, NL), April 3, 2023 – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) are seeking information after responding to a disturbance in St. John’s on Saturday.

On Saturday, April 1, 2023, at approximately 5:15 pm, the RNC Operational Patrol Services Division (OPS) responded to a report of a disturbance in progress in the area of Kenna’s Hill in St. John’s. Responding officers were informed that a male had approached a female near the intersection of New Cove Road and Kenna’s Hill, and had become confrontational. Both individuals were gone from the area when police arrived.

A short time later, officers located the female involved in the event, confirming her safety. It was determined that a male she did not know had approached her and threatened to cause harm.

Officers are investigating the event, and are seeking any information from witnesses, or video in the noted area at the time of the incident.

The suspect is described to be a black male, possibly in his thirties, and had a goatee with a thin moustache at the time of the incident. He was believed to be wearing a black and white striped hat.
